Why Does Pre-Workout Make You Tingle?

That tingling from pre-workout is caused by Beta-Alanine. It is a harmless, temporary skin sensation called paresthesia, usually felt in the face, neck, and hands. It is not dangerous and fades within 30 to 60 minutes.

What causes the tingle

Beta-Alanine is a well studied ingredient used to support muscular endurance. A common, harmless side effect is paresthesia, a tingling or prickling on the skin. It happens because of how Beta-Alanine interacts with nerve receptors just under the skin. It is cosmetic, not a warning sign.

Is the tingle bad?

No. Paresthesia is considered harmless for healthy adults and passes on its own. Many lifters actually like it as a signal that the pre-workout is kicking in. If you find it uncomfortable, it is easy to reduce.

How to manage or reduce it

  • Split your dose: take part of your serving, then the rest later, to soften the peak.
  • Take it with food or more water: this can blunt the intensity.
  • Give it time: with consistent use, many people find the sensation becomes milder.

Tingle is not the same as jitters

Do not confuse the Beta-Alanine tingle with caffeine jitters. The tingle is a harmless skin sensation. Jitters are a stimulant effect you can avoid with a balanced formula. Learn the difference in our jitters and crash guide and the full side effects guide.

Why it means your formula is dosed

A noticeable tingle usually means the Beta-Alanine is present at a real, effective amount rather than a token sprinkle. In a transparent formula like PUROX, you know exactly what you are getting, and the caffeine is balanced with L-Theanine so the overall experience stays clean and focused.
