Pre-Workout Nausea: Why It Happens and How to Fix It

Pre-workout nausea usually comes from one of a few things: taking it on a completely empty stomach, too much caffeine, not enough water, or mixing it too concentrated. The good news is that it is almost always easy to fix.

Common causes of pre-workout nausea

  • Empty stomach: a strong dose with no food can upset some people. See pre-workout on an empty stomach.
  • Too much caffeine: a high dose can cause nausea, especially if you are sensitive.
  • Not enough water: a concentrated mix in a small amount of liquid is harder on the stomach.
  • Taking it too fast: chugging it right before training can slosh in your stomach.

How to fix it

  • Add more water: dilute your pre-workout in a larger volume.
  • Have a small snack 30 to 60 minutes before, if an empty stomach is the issue.
  • Lower the dose: try a half serving and build up. See how much pre-workout should you take.
  • Sip, do not chug, and give it 20 to 30 minutes before training.

Prevent it next time

Most nausea disappears once you dial in your dose, timing, hydration, and mix. A balanced formula also helps, since a smaller, cleaner caffeine load is gentler than a giant stimulant hit. See pre-workout side effects.

When to be cautious

If nausea is severe or persistent, stop and speak to a doctor. Anyone caffeine sensitive should start with a low dose.

Why a clean formula helps

PUROX is transparently dosed and balanced with L-Theanine, so you can control your intake and avoid the harsh, overstimulated feel that often causes nausea. Dose it sensibly, mix it well, and it goes down clean.
